Special Interest Group 3 - Mobility management for cognitive wireless networks

Technical information

The Special Interest Group 3 focuses on mobility management for cognitive wireless networks. This SIG allows experts to conceive models that are adequate to specific network typologies, and analyze techniques related to the topology control in cognitive mobile radio networks.

SIG3 is intended to deal with all aspects related to mobility in the design and performance evaluation of solutions, algorithms and protocols for cognitive networks.

So far, activity in SIG3 focused on the definition of issues posed by mobility at the different layers of the protocol stack, in order to identify challenges and opportunities arising from the presence of mobile terminals in a cognitive network. You can refer to the work presented last year in CROWNCOM during the special session organized by IC0902, available for download in Documents section later on this page.

A wide range of potential topics of interest relevant to SIG3 can be envisioned; just to list a few relevant ones:

- mobility modeling in reference scenarios for cognitive wireless networks;

- impact of mobility on cognitive radio at PHY, MAC and network layers;

- mobility-aware design of algorithms and protocols for cognitive networks.

If you are interested to join the SIG3 activities please contact SIG3 leaders, listed in the Organization section below.

Relevant documents and publications

A list of publications related to SIG3 activities is provided below. PDFs are available under the following copyright notice.

If you published any work relevant to SIG3 referring to / acknowledging IC0902 please contact the SIG3 leaders for integrating the above list.

If you are in the process of submitting a work that is at least partially a result of collaboration carried out within the SIG3, please remember to acknowledge it in your publication. The suggested standard statement is the following:

Part of this work was supported by COST Action IC0902 "Cognitive Radio and Networking for Cooperative Coexistence of Heterogeneous Wireless Networks"
