Early Stage Researcher

COST foresees a specific strategy for Early Stage Researchers (ESRs).

A ESR is defined by COST as a researcher whose career spans less than 8 years between the date of the PhD/doctorate (or similar experience) and the date of involvement in the COST Action. Periods of career leave have to be added to this time span.

Action IC0902 promotes several activities for ESRs and provides information on opportunities offered by COST to ESRs, in particular Conference grants for Early Stage Researchers

Short-Term Scientific Mission

The aim of a Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) is to contribute to the scientific objectives of the COST Action.

These missions are aimed at strengthening the existing networks by allowing scientists to go to an institution or laboratory in another COST Country to foster collaboration, to learn a new technique or to take measurements using instruments and/or methods not available in their own institution/laboratory. They are particularly intended for young scientists.

The Management Committee of the Action IC0902 plans to support one STSM for each Working Group for each year.

Please refer to the information available in the How to section for submitting an application.
